OUR STORY
Preserving Kentucky's Iron Road
The Bluegrass Railroad Museum has been connecting people with America's railroad heritage since 1976. Our volunteers restore and operate authentic historic equipment, giving visitors a genuine experience of the golden age of rail travel in the heart of the Bluegrass region.
We believe that history is best understood not from behind glass, but from aboard a moving train — with the whistle calling and the countryside rolling past your window.

Beyond preserving railroad equipment, we preserve the stories, craftsmanship, and spirit of the men and women who built and operated the railroads that helped shape Kentucky and the nation.
Every excursion, exhibit, and restoration project offers visitors an opportunity to step into living history and experience firsthand the enduring legacy of America's railroads.
